1) Let the dust fall to the ground naturally. You don’t want to use the vacuum cleaner, so in these conditions, just turn your carpet over and step on it upside down, it should be left like this for two to three days, so naturally, the dust will settle on the ground by gravity. You can place wedges on the ground to lift it and thus dissociate the wool of the carpet from the ground.
2) Marseille soap and special wool product. If your carpet is stained with coffee, sauce, chocolate, you must immediately clean the stain on the wool and, to do this, you must sponge the stain and then pass a little Marseille soap or a special household product for wool carpets. It is necessary to make gentle and regular movements so as not to attack the carpet and to remove the stain. Then you have to dry the carpet in the sun.
3) White vinegar and lukewarm water. For stubborn stains, white vinegar and lukewarm water will be a good compromise to detach the carpet. You can also use Sommières earth which is very suitable for old and valuable carpets. Terre de Sommières is a natural clay that has a good stain-removing power.
4) Baking soda and sparkling water. For the most encrusted stains, take sparkling water and rub gently with a wrung-out sponge. Thirty minutes after this operation, sprinkle the stains with baking soda, when the powder is dry, vacuum. Baking soda is a good product for cleaning the wool carpet, in case of slightly stubborn stains, do not hesitate to use this recipe.
5) It is better to avoid detergents, unless the task really requires it, but under these conditions, always test the product on a discreet part of the wool of the carpet before proceeding with the complete cleaning, because, alas, removing a stain does also often a halo on the carpet, which obliges to clean it completely.
